What should you consider when choosing a gastroenterologist? Selecting a GI physician who is well-trained, experienced, and board certified in their field is extremely important. Choose a doctor that actively listens to your concerns and incorporates cutting-edge research, natural remedies, and diagnostic techniques to establish and employ a tailored treatment plan for your particular situation.
Dr. Youssef and Dr. Ahmad are skilled, board-certified physicians in gastroenterology and internal medicine. They are highly qualified team members of the renowned Digestive Health Associates of Texas (DHAT) and are group partners with North Texas Gastroenterology Consultants. They practice personalized medicine and provide a comprehensive, compassionate approach to all areas of gastroenterology using technologically-advanced methods for surgical and non-surgical procedures.
The Most Innovative GI Treatment Methods and Techniques
“We’re interested in finding the root cause of heartburn and managing it accordingly,” says Dr. Youssef. The minimally invasive TIF Procedure (transoral incisionless fundoplication) corrects the cause of reflux—a faulty valve between the esophagus and stomach—and provides relief from acid reflux (heartburn) symptoms. This nonsurgical outpatient procedure performed by Dr. Youssef uses a device attached to the endoscope to reconstruct the lower esophagus valve for relief and control of reflux, heartburn, and regurgitation.
Dr. Youssef is skilled in all areas of gastroenterology with special interest in colon cancer screening (colonoscopy), GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease), constipation, IBS (irritable bowel syndrome), and management of inflammatory bowel disease including Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.
Dr. Ahmad enjoys and appreciates the technological aspects of medicine. Although all facets of gastrointestinal disease fascinate Dr. Ahmad, he is especially interested in pancreatic and biliary diseases. Because of his specialized training, Dr. Ahmad has the advantage of diagnosing and treating a wide range of pancreatic and biliary diseases. Endoscopic ultrasound is a great tool that allows him to view, evaluate, and biopsy organs and benign or malignant tumors, both within and outside of the gastrointestinal tract. The use of endoscopic ultrasound in combination with ERCP (endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography) has decreased the need for ERCP as a diagnostic tool over time, minimizing the associated risk of performing this procedure. His goal is to connect with and care for patients through laughter or tender compassion.
Both physicians treat a wide array of common gastrointestinal disorders. If a screening colonoscopy is needed, DHAT’s Direct Access program offers patients (ages 50 and above) the flexibility and convenience of scheduling a colonoscopy by simply dialing a direct phone number.
“We’re working closely with our local hospitals to establish a Heartburn Center that provides a comprehensive approach to heartburn, acid reflux, and upper GI complaints,” Dr. Youssef says. “Our standardized screening tests assist in determining the best treatment for our patient’s symptoms.”
Don’t hesitate to seek help from experienced, board-certified physicians who offer tremendous knowledge, skill, and precision in comprehensive GI care and state-of-the-art treatments. Call DHAT to schedule an exam and consult with Dr. Youssef or Dr. Ahmad.
