Dr. Alisa Reed, her associate, Dr. Stacey Smith, and the team at Dental Designs by Alisa Reed approach patient care with a philosophy of going the extra mile. Their level of extraordinary care, accompanied by comprehensive, high-quality dentistry, makes the practice a go-to destination for dentistry in The Woodlands and beyond.

The Spirit of Lagniappe

Drs. Reed and Smith enjoy making a difference in their patients’ lives, giving them a deep sense of fulfillment. Dr. Reed, who grew up in New Orleans, uses the French word Lagniappe to describe how they go all-in for their patients. Lagniappe translates to mean something given as a bonus or an extra gift — a baker’s dozen, as Dr. Reed likes to say. In turn, patients appreciate the pleasant, personalized care they receive and rave about their experiences at Dental Designs by Alisa Reed.

One patient exclaims, “Dr. Reed goes far beyond what any other dentist/doctor or other professional I have ever encountered. She does exceptional dentistry with compassion that I’ve never seen before. I will be a lifetime patient.”

Another writes, “Dr. Smith is one of the best dentists I’ve encountered. Her bedside manner is great! I’m terrified of sitting in the dental chair even for a simple cleaning, yet somehow, she keeps me laughing and always reminds me to breathe! If I could give her 10/10 stars, I would!”

Comfortable, Convenient, Advanced Dentistry

Dr. Reed offers a full suite of services. The ability to have most everything done in one office with a team you know and trust is much more convenient and less stressful than being referred to somewhere else.

Plus Drs. Reed and Smith use advanced dental technology, including lasers, intraoral scanners that create 3D images in minutes, and even near-infrared imaging technology to detect tooth day.

“Using the latest technology not only helps us provide the highest quality of dentistry but also extra comfort and convenience for our patients,” Dr. Reed notes.

Cosmetic and Corrective Dentistry for Everyone

Dr. Reed especially loves cosmetic dentistry. She takes great joy in seeing the life-changing impact her custom-designed smile makeovers have on her patients.

“Patients are often shy or reticent to talk about how they’re not confident in their smile and may not realize the extent their smile impacts their self-esteem,” Dr. Reed says. “Some are concerned that cosmetic work involves grinding teeth down to a nub when it’s vastly different these days. There are a variety of options, and it can be as straightforward as Invisalign, a few minimally invasive veneers that conserve as much of the natural tooth as possible, and teeth whitening.”

Dr. Reed explains that she and Dr. Smith not only fill cavities and make smiles look gorgeous but also care for your general health. “Good oral health is essential to your overall health and well-being. It can affect your cardiovascular health, the level of inflammation in your body, and even the quality of your sleep,” Dr. Reed explains. “For example, teeth tend to angle inward toward the palate and tongue as we age. Affecting the stability of the airway, this can contribute to obstructive sleep apnea and gum disease if left uncorrected.”

She further explains that your teeth and bite can shift over time and points out that Invisalign treatment is about more than smile aesthetics. “It’s not uncommon for teeth to shift to the front, which can cause chipping and wear down the enamel. Using Invisalign for a few months corrects the bite and crowding. This helps preserve the teeth and can keep you from having to undergo more extensive dental treatment in the future.”

Replacing Missing Teeth

Did you know that missing even one tooth can damage your entire mouth? One of Dr. Stacey Smith’s passions is dental implants, the gold standard for replacing missing teeth. She uses advanced planning technology to help ensure the most precise and accurate dental implant placement, which is critical. Once in place, dental implants can last for decades.

“Dental implants mimic the look, feel, and function of natural teeth. You care for them just as you do your natural teeth, they help preserve the health of surrounding bone and gums, keep your teeth from shifting, and unlike a bridge, they help keep adjacent teeth stable,” Dr. Smith explains.

More About the Dentists

After graduating cum laude from Louisiana Tech University, Dr. Reed earned a Doctor of Dental Surgery and an advanced education in a residency in general dentistry at Louisiana State University. She continually assesses innovations in technology and materials for her practice and stays on the leading edge of dentistry, regularly completing continuing education classes on state-of-the-art procedures and best practices for safety and sterilization.

After earning an undergraduate degree at Texas A&M University, Dr. Smith completed her Doctor of Dental Surgery, followed by a two-year advanced general dentistry residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio. She went on to teach dental students there for more than seven years and was a program director in the advanced general dentistry program.
A lifelong learner, Dr. Smith stays up to date on the latest advances in dentistry.
