Cy-Fair Federal Credit Union

Celebrating 65 Years Of "Writing Good Into The Life Stories Around Us"
Cy-Fair Federal Credit Union

Great things start with a clear vision designed to stand the test of time.

Since its inception 65 years ago, Cy-Fair Federal Credit Union (CFFCU) has remained true to its vision, evolving and growing while remaining focused on its core values.

CFFCU’s dedication to innovation, supporting the community, and best-serving its members hasn’t gone unnoticed. In 2021 alone, the credit union’s chief executive officer garnered a prestigious Distinguished Service Award from the World Council of Credit Unions, and the credit union was voted Best Financial Institution in Cy-Fair, receiving a coveted Living Magazine Readers’ Choice award. CFFCU received the Cy-Fair Houston Chamber of Commerce “Business of The Year” award in 2015. In 2022, following a six-year waiting period, CFFCU plans to compete for this award again.

Your Hometown Credit Union, an Award-Winning Financial Institution

CFFCU was formed in 1956 to provide “a better way to bank” for school district employees. Ten of them signed the credit union’s charter certificate, and the foundling organization operated from a shoebox in a desk drawer at Cy-Fair High School. Today, CFFCU is a premier, trusted financial institution in the community with convenient locations throughout Cypress and Houston and two more in the works.

As CFFCU’s current President and CEO, Cameron Dickey, came on board in 2012, the credit union re-invigorated its planning process with a 10-year vision called Cy-Fair 2022. Approved by the credit union’s volunteer board of directors, it includes reimagining modern banking and revitalizing and redesigning its branches, now called financial centers, and doubles down on its investment in the community.

“We’re proud of our progress and how we add value to the community and embrace social responsibility,” Mr. Dickey comments. “Our plan includes a 10-year Community Only Better pledge of $500,000 and 1,000 annual community service hours by CFFCU employees. We aspire to beat this pledge each year.”

Growth, Financial Strength, Innovation

Since kicking off its 10-year plan, CFFCU has grown its member base and helped more families buy a home or car and lower household expenses through refinancing. The credit union has also invested in local small businesses. Below are a few highlights.

  • 83% increase in deposits
  • 86% increase in capital reserves
  • 92% increase in total loans to members
  • 19% increase in total credit union memberships
  • Average loan to CFFCU borrowers has increased by 93%

“We’ve also seen the average deposit per member increase by 55%. This reflects the trust and loyalty of CFFCU members using their member-owned, not-for-profit financial cooperative for emergency saving, college expense planning for children, and retirement, just to name a few,” Mr. Dickey adds.

There’s something truly special about our heart for the community and our members that’s difficult to describe in words. We’re an organization that continually strives to do great things. It’s in our DNA. I’m proud to be associated with CFFCU and everyone on our diverse team,” says Cy-Fair Credit Union President and CEO, Cameron Dickey.

Between 2018 and 2020, CFFCU remodeled its financial centers and corporate headquarters on Jones Road and added a new location in the heart of Cy-Fair at Town Lake Boardwalk, north of the Cy-Fair FCU Stadium.

“Remodeling improved member consultation areas and offers a crisp, modern, hospitality-focused design. CFFCU employees equipped with tablets greet members at the door, invite them to enjoy a cold beverage from our hospitality area, plugin and recharge at our technology bar, and check out our large high-definition video wall for new promotions and the latest CFFCU news,” says Mr. Dickey.

Members also enjoy CFFCU’s interactive teller area that combines the ease and convenience of an ATM with a live teller experience, as well as a suite of mobile solutions to place banking right at your fingertips.
