If you are a patient needing oral surgery, you have many clinical practices from which to choose. While the exact number of oral surgeons practicing in North Texas is uncertain, it’s safe to say there are dozens, perhaps even hundreds, of practitioners in the region. One thing, however, that might well lead you to have your procedure performed at Contemporary Implant & Oral Surgery in Plano or Carrollton is the foundational model upon which the practice of Drs. Chan and Phan is built.
“What sets us apart,” says Dr. Phan, “is that we seek to achieve exceptional results one patient at a time.” That model of patient care reflects their belief that each patient is truly unique and entitled to nothing but the very highest quality patient care.
A critical part of their approach to oral surgery is their role as patient educators, providing in-depth information and guidance to each patient about treatment options, including a candid explanation of possible risks and complications. “We serve as a guide in an unknown space, assisting patients in making an informed choice about the treatment they want us to perform,” said Dr. Chan.
Exceptional Training and Experience
Both Dr. Chan and Dr. Phan are eminently qualified for their roles as patient educators and oral surgeons, both having been trained at one of the preeminent medical schools in the U.S., the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas.
Dr. Stephen Chan – A California native, Dr. Chan received his undergraduate degree from UCLA and earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from UCLA’s School of Dentistry. He then completed his residency at the UCLA Medical Center, where he frequently performed dental procedures on patients under general anesthesia.
His residency completed, Dr. Chan came to Dallas and earned his MD degree at UT Southwestern and completed an additional residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery and trained extensively at several
Dr. Chan specializes in dental implants and bone grafting. His services range from single tooth replacement to multiple teeth restoration and full mouth restoration. He also focuses on wisdom teeth, pathology, trauma, and soft-tissue surgery.
Additionally, Dr. Chan is permitted to administer general anesthesia, IV, and oral sedation to patients at their Plano and Carrollton clinics.
Dr. Aidan Phan – After graduating from the Indiana University School of Dentistry with highest honors, Dr. Phan earned his MD degree from UT Southwestern Medical School, followed by a general surgery internship and a residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery, and he also has trained extensively in a number of area hospitals.
Dr. Phan performs the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery, including the removal of wisdom teeth, dental implant surgery, bone and soft-tissue grafting, and reconstructive surgery for trauma injuries using different anesthesia techniques. In addition, Dr. Phan is:
- Board certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
- A fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons
- A member of the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology
The doctors’ success in educating their patients and providing treatment based on optimal information and informed patient decisions is reflected in the highly favorable reviews of current and former patients. The following online reviews are typical, reflecting the outstanding patient care provided at Contemporary Implant & Oral Surgery.
Stephanie R. in Dallas – “I needed some oral surgery in a pinch and was able to get an appointment with Dr. Chan the day I called. The staff walked me through everything, so I wasn’t left wondering what was going on. All in all, if you have to have oral surgery, this is the place to go.”
Inna F. in Richardson – “The staff and surgeon were incredibly sweet and very informative. They heard every question and responded kindly without making me feel uncomfortable for my list of questions. The office is very well-equipped, and the surgeon was honest and knowledgeable.”
Hanna L. in Plano – “Dr. Phan is an awesome and very knowledgeable oral surgeon. He is gentle, patient, always takes time to answer any of your questions. He guides you through every single step during your implant process. We have choices when selecting providers, but I am so happy to have Dr. Phan taking care of my dental needs. Highly recommended!”
In addition to treating a broad cross-section of the general public, the level of trust that Drs. Chan and Phan have built as oral surgeons is reflected in the number of dental professionals who seek treatment at their two clinics. “We take care of many area dentists and their family members as well,” said Dr. Phan.
A Wide Range of Treatment Options
The doctors at Contemporary Implant & Oral Surgery offer their patients a full range of oral surgery treatment options, from basic wisdom teeth removal to simple dental implants and complex implant options needing extensive bone grafting, restoration from traumatic dental injuries, and treatments for pathologic cysts and tumors, among others.
In the area of dental implants, Drs. Chan and Phan offer their implant patients the All-on-4 option. This is a revolutionary technique providing full-teeth replacement for either the upper or lower jaw using only four dental implants. This technique requires less healing time and is a more comfortable solution than a full set of single implants.
Whatever treatment they’re undergoing, patients at Contemporary Implant & Oral Surgery are always given an array of anesthesia options.
Building Beautiful Mouths
Summing up the distinctiveness of their practice of implant and oral surgery, Dr. Chan says, “Anybody can buy a hammer and a saw and a screwdriver, but not everybody can build a beautiful mouth. We can do that for our patients.”
