Prior to managing Nothing Bundt Cakes – Allen, Carolyn Cervantes worked in retail. She was recruited by the Nothing Bundt Cakes franchise owner to join the brand. “I was looking for a better work-life balance,” said Cervantes. “This was my opportunity.”

Empowering Women and Families

Cervantes’ mission is empowering families and females. First, she found an assistant manager with a background in baking. “With my retail background,” said Cervantes, “and her baking background, we’re a perfect team.”

Together, they have built a team that is 90 percent female. Cervantes understands the demands women face at work, and flexibility is a priority. “Our operating hours are family-friendly,” she said. “As long as we can reach a happy medium, we extend opportunities to join our team. If employees are happy at home, they bring that energy to work.”

Sweet Success

Cervantes celebrated her first anniversary with the franchise in January 2022. “When I initially started,” she said, “we were struggling to reach our full potential.” In less than a year, Cervantes and her team accomplished the first milestone of $1 million in sales. Now, into their second year, projections are sweeter. She attributes that success to her team who are passionate about the brand and committed to customer success.

“We care about our product, customers and employees,” said Cervantes, “and we hope to inspire everyone who walks through our doors with that same passion.”
