Q&A

Should I choose silicone or saline-filled breast implants?

The new generation of silicone implants look and feel like natural breasts, so most of my patients choose them. With saline implants, an empty shell is inserted into the breast and then filled with sterile saltwater. This generally allows for slightly smaller incisions. During your breast augmentation consultation, we’ll review options and recommendations. My goal is to provide the information you need to make an informed choice.

How can I tell if I need a breast augmentation, breast lift, or both?

It depends on your goals. After having children and breastfeeding, women often choose both to reshape and restore volume with implants and address droopiness with a breast lift. If you have mild droopiness, an implant alone may correct this. We can also discuss a small implant to improve the shape based on the look you want to achieve.

Are most tummy tucks the same?

Not at all. I customize tummy tucks to each patient based on their individual goals and needs. It can range from a true mini tummy tuck — a smaller procedure with a faster recovery time — to a full tummy tuck and 360-degree liposuction. Tummy tucks, along with breast enhancement and other procedures during a Mommy Makeover, help restore your body to either your pre-pregnancy shape or an enhanced version of your pre-pregnancy self.

What is this 360-degree liposuction?

It’s an aggressive form of liposuction that provides dramatic results to your entire mid-section. It addresses the abdomen and bra line, and extends all the way around the waist to include the flanks and upper buttocks. Combined with a tummy tuck, it’s the most powerful way to achieve a classic bikini body.

What is Cellfina?

Cellfina is one of the few FDA-approved treatments for long-term cellulite reduction. It’s done in the office and has no downtime. It is, without a doubt, the best option for a one-time treatment to reduce or eliminate cellulite for five years or more. Results can be seen as early as two to three weeks, but they improve with time.

Do I need fillers or a facelift?

If you have minor sagging and laxity in the face and neck, then fillers may nicely achieve your goals. A facelift is a powerful technique for more significant facial aging and results can last years. This question highlights the value of going to a medspa in a plastic surgeon’s office. Since we offer a full line of nonsurgical and surgical services, we can provide the best of all options instead of just the best of the available options. I often talk with medspa patients who are curious about comparing nonsurgical and surgical treatments.

How do I choose a plastic surgeon?

Only surgeons certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery can legally call themselves plastic surgeons. You also want someone who actively listens, asks and answers questions, and spends adequate time with you during your consultation. If you feel a plastic surgeon understood your goals and gave you confidence in the plan, then you’ve likely found the right one.
