When Brenda Richey laid her eyes on 450 unspoiled acres of woodlands tucked away in the Southeastern Oklahoma mountains near Sardis Lake, she knew it was special. Her background in real estate helped her envision more than just a location for her and her husband to build a vacation home. She saw the potential to share their incredible find with others and set out to create a beautiful community in a natural setting with the privacy and escape from suburbia so many of us long for.

Brenda’s real estate career started in 2007 when she decided to re-enter the workforce after staying at home with her children. With minimal work experience after college, she took a risk, working in sales on commission only for a national developer. She quickly became the top salesperson in the country and continued to be recognized as the top salesperson in the nation multiple times. Brenda found her passion and an innate gift for making a personal connection with buyers and understanding their needs.

“Being on commission only when I started in the industry motivated me to excel. I also discovered my ability to relate to folks in every walk of life,” says Brenda, who has built her reputation on honesty and being genuinely open and trustworthy. Eventually, she went to work for Keller Williams and built up a successful real estate team. It was fate when she discovered the land that would become Timber Ridge Estates in 2021.

“I had no idea there were mountains in Oklahoma,” Brenda shares. “I fell in love with the woodlands, the terrain, and the local people. When a friend told me 450 acres were available, I walked every road and through thick woods, becoming personally familiar with the land before acquiring it.”
Brenda’s vision became a reality, and not surprisingly, she sold 50 lots in Timber Ridge Estates during the first year.

“Timber Ridge Estates is a magical place that sells itself. We love it so much we’re retiring here — it’s our home, our baby. This isn’t just a business investment where we’re gone after everything’s done.” She adds, “Everyone that buys becomes a friend. I feel like we’re living a dream every day and sharing it with our buyers.” Brenda says she’s especially proud of helping support the local economy and manages 20-30 people working onsite building lots, roads, and the construction of their first model home.
