When Rachel Baty and her husband, Brent, arrived in Celina 12 years ago, she immediately threw herself into her community, serving as Main Street president, president of Celina Ladies & Friends, and helping launch what is known as the “Friday Night Market” downtown, bringing together a variety of local businesses, farmers, artisans, and vineyards each month.
Naturally, when the opportunity presented itself to open a boutique on Celina’s Square, she jumped on it. In March 2016, Rachel opened Annie Jack, a lifestyle boutique offering a mix of home, fashion, and local artisanry with an espresso bar and inviting courtyard. Then in 2021, the opportunity arose to totally renovate one of the original buildings across the Square in Celina, which dated back to 1912, complete with the original tin ceiling and beautiful crown molding. Rachel has an interior design degree from Baylor and loves history, so this endeavor was exciting.
Annie Jack is a place to find local products like Olive Oil de Fino from Sherman, Texas Range Honey from Weston, Luscombe Farm jellies, Fields of Fidelis lavender products from Anna, and cookbooks by local author Alex Snodgrass. Currently, every Saturday morning, you’ll find Swirls Bakery in Annie Jack until their bakery opens later this year on the Square. Celina’s downtown square attracts people from miles away with many festivals, great restaurants, wineries, and interesting shopping, especially during the holidays. Rachel hopes that Annie Jack can be a place where every visitor feels special, cared for, and refreshed.
