Bharmal Internal Medicine

Dr. Hujela Vora MAN SD Profile 16-3_WEBHujefa Vora grew up in Fort Worth, Texas with a father who fought end-stage renal disease for 25 years. While most of his friends idolized football players, astronauts, and movie stars, he was inspired by the doctors who cared for his father. “Dad lived a great life despite his illness,” Dr. Vora said. “The care his doctors gave him sparked my passion for caring for others, a fire that still burns in me today.” This early experience offered Dr. Vora a sense of empathy for his own patients and their families and insight into the complicated mix of fear, hope, anxiety, and elation they go through during the treatment process.

Dr. Vora’s primary care practice is broad in spectrum, providing care for patients as young adults all the way to a geriatric population. He provides a special emphasis on care of the elderly, who have their own unique set of challenges and medical issues, best handled by primary care physicians experienced in geriatric care. “Primary care is a partnership between physician and patient; a sacred relationship. I believe in working with patients and their families as a trusted partner and friend first, then a diagnostician, problem-solver, and care coordinator.”

As a partner, Dr. Vora believes strongly in working with families to pursue any and all necessary treatment options for his patients. As an internist in primary care, Dr. Vora is particularly excited by diagnostics in medicine. “Internists are much like detectives analyzing symptoms and searching out underlying disease processes, isolating problems, and eventually figuring out a way to diagnose and treat disease. It’s very rewarding,” Dr. Vora said.

A unique feature of Dr Vora’s practice is that he is known for following his patients through all phases of their treatment. He maintains staff privileges at multiple facilities in the South Arlington and Mansfield area enabling him to assist his patients and their families through all facets of the complex medical environment, from the clinic to the hospital, through rehabilitation, to the nursing home and, ultimately, through the entire spectrum of life.

In his free time, Dr. Vora enjoys spending time with his beautiful wife of sixteen years, Insiyah, and his almost two-year-old daughter, Mariya. “Mariya is everything good in my life,” he said. “Through her innocent eyes, I aspire to be the best father I can be.” The Voras enjoy gardening and raising chickens, traveling, skiing, hiking, and cycling.

Dr. Vora does a great deal of volunteer work through his church. He and his wife take yearly mission trips to third world countries in Asia and Africa. “It’s important for physicians to give back to their community,” he says. “Without the support of my community, I wouldn’t be a doctor today.” He also donates a great deal of his time to his preferred hospital, Medical Center Arlington, where he currently serves as Chief of Staff.

Dr. Vora graduated from Austin College with a degree in Mathematics, and did his Residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. His true passion however, was theater and communication arts. “Physicians, above all else, must be good communicators. We must listen and take direction from our patients, interpret our findings, and convey this to our patients in a clear, concise, and palatable fashion.” His passion for theater also blends naturally into his career. “Much like one of my heroes, Dr. Patch Adams,” Dr Vora says, “I believe that laughter is the best medicine. We entertain and we heal.”
