Catherine Casteel, DPM
Modern foot and ankle doctors run their practices much differently than those in the past. This new generation of specialists work continuously to learn about new technologies and further develop their expertise in all foot and ankle related procedures. Dr. Catherine Casteel, a board-certified doctor of podiatric surgery and owner of Casteel Foot & Ankle Center, is a leader in the field and one of the North Texas region’s top podiatrists.
Dr. Casteel trained with several top podiatric surgeons, which exposed her to a wide variety of approaches to foot and ankle surgery. “Your feet work hard every day, so it’s important to take care of them,” she says, adding that any time foot pain develops, seeing an expert podiatrist right away is critical. She and her team use the latest nonsurgical and surgical techniques available to ensure patients receive the highest quality foot care and experience a quicker recovery.
With a main goal of returning patients to the highest level of function possible, Dr. Casteel takes the time necessary to understand the problem. Then she can develop the most efficient treatment plan. She approaches foot and ankle issues from a conservative perspective first, but when surgery is required, she integrates the latest medical and surgical techniques to provide for the best possible outcome.
Dr. Casteel can help you with a host of disorders, such as:
- Diabetic Foot
- Ingrown Toenails
- Arthritic Ankle
- Ankle Sprain
- Heel Spurs
- Plantar Fasciitis
- Achilles Tendon Pain
- And much more
Dr. Casteel’s patients have access to the latest treatment advances. “MLS laser therapy is one of the more exciting advances in nonsurgical treatment options for certain conditions we commonly see in our office,” she explains. The painless therapy uses specific wavelengths of light to pinpoint and treat many painful conditions. Light energy enters the damaged cells and stimulates intercellular activity, which reduces pain and speeds recovery of the cells.
EPAT(extracorporeal activation technology) represents the most advanced noninvasive solution for treating foot and ankle pain. This technique employs shockwave therapy directed to the affected area, which enhances blood flow and stimulates metabolism to help the body heal itself. Research shows EPAT to deliver outcomes equal to and, often, many times greater than traditional treatment methods.
Let’s Get Personal
Just how did Dr. Casteel decide to pursue podiatric medicine? Let’s rewind many years to when she was Mrs. Casteel and going through undergraduate studies at University of Texas at El Paso. Her husband, Gerald Casteel, was deployed and on active duty. She stayed behind to raise the kids and finish school. Unfortunately, he injured his ankle very badly while deployed and needed three surgeries to repair the damage. Even after all of that, his ankle still wasn’t back to normal.
Dr. Casteel took a great interest in her husband’s injury and began to study on her own about foot and ankle conditions. Raising kids, studying, and enjoying time together as a family, her brilliant career grew out of her husband’s ankle injury.
Dedicated. Passionate. Experienced. Dr. Casteel can handle any foot and ankle issues you may have with expertise and compassion.
