Q&A
How does the community welcome new residents?
We assist our residents to make a smooth transition in many ways. Before they move in, residents complete a profile that helps us learn all the great things about them. We use their profile to help them map out their day and suggest specific activities they may enjoy. We introduce them to other residents we think they might pair well with. We give them an orientation of the community and show them different areas.
What kind of amenities and activities are available?
Residents can participate in numerous events and activities. Every morning, residents can get their blood pumping with exercise classes, yoga, and stretch classes. There’s also a drum circle cardio class, which is a lot of fun and helps with hand-eye coordination. Throughout the day, there are different activities like lunch outings, card games, or happy hour. Every evening at 6 PM we show a different movie in the theater. Amenities include a fitness center, an art studio with different classes, and a club room for things like devotion or bingo.
We also provide transportation. Tuesdays and Thursdays are our designated doctors’ office days, where we take our residents to their doctor appointments. On Friday mornings, residents can go on a weekly trip to Walmart. Monday and Wednesday outings are voted on through the community’s Resident Council, which votes on things like activities. Residents may vote to go to dinner or lunch or to go to a casino or museum.
Do you have outdoor space available for residents to enjoy?
Yes. We have a beautiful courtyard with a nice patio. There are plenty of rocking chairs and different seating areas for residents to sit and enjoy the fresh air. On the third floor, we have a patio that overlooks the community. This patio has a bar, making it great for events and happy hours.
Will my loved one feel at home here? Can they bring their pet and decorate how they want?
We love pets! Residents are welcome to have pets, and family members and visitors can also bring pets. Residents can make their space their own, and can paint a wall or two — or all four of them. One of our residents has one baby-blue wall that always catches my eye. She keeps her door open, so I always see it when I pass by.
What makes Anthology of Plano different?
We give residents the ability to age in place. The goal is to get them to where they’re going to be. As they go through their journey, they don’t have to move again. We want to give them all the comforts that are important to them while providing them with the care and resources they need. We are also moving to 24-hour nursing, which separates us from many other communities.
