Pleasant Ridge Internal Medicine
Dr. Arunpriya Vadivelu believes the most important thing she can give her patients is time. “When someone comes to see me, whether it’s for a wellness exam, for treatment for a common ailment, or management of a chronic condition, they’re taking time out of their busy day to see me,” she said. “I never want them to feel like I’m rushing them through their visit. At that moment, they’re the only patient to me and I want to slow down long enough to answer all their questions and address all their concerns. The doctor/patient relationship is all about mutual trust and respect.”
With a special heart for women’s health, Dr. Vadivelu offers care to patients, of both sexes and ages 17 and older, at Pleasant Ridge Internal Medicine and Wellness including hormone optimization for women in their menopause years, help reaching weight-loss goals, and proactive, preventative care to maximize lifelong wellness. “As women, we have many people depending on us from our spouse and kids, to our friends, extended family, and employees,” she said. “But often we put our own health on the back burner and neglect to do the things we should be doing for ourselves. Instead we should be our own health advocate. I’m honored to be a partner to my patients, both men and women, on their wellness journey. I believe that quality medical care must involve a comprehensive, compassionate, and patient-centered approach.”
Dr. Vadivelu advocates a strong doctor-patient relationship. “I’m passionate about patient education,” she said. “It’s my job to present my patients with all their medical options, not to dictate care but to let them know they are part of the decision-making process, to give them all the facts, then partner with them to do whatever they decide. I’m fervent about preventive medicine encompassing proper diet, adequate exercise, stress management, and staying abreast of annual wellness checks, to make sure my patients are on track with their health goals.”
