American Institute for Plastic Surgery

Someone asked Dr. Alan Dulin what he’d do if they won. “I told them, ‘I’d be here in the morning’,” he said. “Surgery is what I love.” If only we all loved our jobs as much. For Dr. Dulin and his partners—Drs. Scott Harris, Peter Raphael, and Alfred Antonetti—a day’s work means improving the lives of their patients. What’s not to love about that?

“I always knew I’d practice medicine,” Dr. Harris said. “But I had a strange problem in medical school. I enjoyed every specialty I was exposed to.” He took his dilemma to the dean of students who helped him consider his other interests. “My mother was an art teacher and, from a young age, I loved the hand-eye coordination involved in sports,” he said. “I had a construction job to help pay for med school and loved looking back to see what I’d accomplished. The dean helped me realize that surgery would allow me to combine all my passions. After many years and thousands of surgeries, I still enjoy what I do.”

Dr. Alan Dulin faced a similar decision until a surgical rotation allowed him to follow a breast cancer patient from diagnosis through general surgery to follow-up reconstruction. He was sold. “Through plastic surgery, I’m able to change something for a patient they can’t change for themselves,” he said. “Whether it’s a breast reduction that relieves years of back and shoulder pain, a tummy tuck on a mom who has delivered multiples, or a nose job that allows someone to breath normally, I’m blessed to be able to help each patient.”

“Mommy makeovers are our specialty,” said Dr. Harris. “If Mama ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy. And I can make Mama happy again.” Dr. Harris also travels the country teaching others in his field. “We’re blessed with great patients and an outstanding staff, many of whom have been with us more than 20 years.”

“A great day for me is when a 40-year-old patient tells me she felt comfortable at the beach for the first time in her life,” Dr. Dulin said. “My goal is to be completely honest with each patient to do whatever I can to help them.”

“This time of year, it’s common for patients to have several surgical treatments done at once, such as liposuction, tummy tucks, and breast augmentations, with only one recovery time,” Dr. Raphael said. “We can help slim and redefine your body, remove unwanted pockets of fat, remove excess skin, tighten muscles, and enhance your body’s shape to have you swimsuit-ready by summer.”

“There are certain areas of fat you can’t eliminate on your own, no matter how much you diet and exercise,” Dr. Antonetti said. “We have surgical and nonsurgical options to address your specific body challenges, redefine your body, boost your self-esteem, and make summer 2016 your best ever.”
