Local entrepreneur Amber Gustafson has reason to celebrate. This year marks the 20th anniversary of her business, Amber’s Designs, a full-service design and repair jewelry studio located in downtown Katy. The female owned-and-operated custom jewelry mainstay has thrived over the years by focusing on excellence in every aspect of the business. “Our mission is to design and create jewelry with exceptional quality, value, and service that exceeds our clients dreams and expectations,” says Amber.

During the pandemic, Amber’s Designs stayed true to their values while the business adapted. Amber continued paying her staff of 15 while she, a master of the craft – and one of very few women in this male-dominated field – worked around the clock fulfilling custom orders. “People dug into their jewelry boxes and brought us their heirloom stones for personalized pieces full of heart and with stories to tell,” says Amber.

But it was Amber’s ability to evolve during the pandemic that allowed the business to stand out as an industry leader. “COVID-19 led to more streamlined business pathways,” she says. “We’ve been able to leverage those alongside the latest technology, in-house expert jewelers, and globally- and customer-sourced materials to better serve our clients.” Amber also introduced successful live auctions and special deals on her Facebook page, Amber’s Designs Fine Jewelry.
