Straighten your foot, bend your knee, laugh uncontrollably — it’s a normal day at Achieve Physical Therapy & Performance. Laughter is the best medicine, and owners/physical therapists (PTs) Steve Cole, PT, MSPT, and Steve Long, PT, MS, know how to utilize this happy treatment along with cutting-edge technology, manual techniques, and an innovative exercise program to help patients get well quickly.

“We are unique in our personal level of care,” said Steve Cole. “We treat everybody like part of our ‘dysfunctional family.’ Patients get fun therapy while receiving excellent therapy interventions and techniques.”

Owners Cole and Long (“The Steves”) have more than 50 years’ combined physical therapy experience. They treat a variety of orthopedic, neurological, and sports-related injuries, as well as postoperative rehabilitation and general conditions. Patients love Achieve, evidenced by it winning Living Magazine’s Best of Readers’ Choice awards in 2017, 2018, and 2020.

Another way Achieve stands out is in their dedication to others. “We are a community-oriented private practice,” explained Cole. “Our staff are residents of the community and involved in multiple local activities. Both Steve and I are owner/therapists of the clinic, so we take great pride and responsibility in the services we provide.”

Achieve focuses on “exercise prescription and progression to return the patient to their desired activity level,” added Cole. The PTs are trained in diagnosing skeletal muscle dysfunction and developing personalized treatment plans. They utilize a variety of manual therapy techniques, including instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization that can speed recovery. Dry needling, where fine, solid stainless-steel needles are inserted into the skin’s trigger points, may also help relieve muscle pain.

After opening in Plano in 2007, Achieve expanded to four more clinics between 2016 and 2019. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, they are serving patients of all ages through Telehealth visits via a HIPPA-compliant portal. Using a smart device, patients communicate with the PTs, who can virtually lead a structured rehabilitation program, teach self-manual techniques, and instruct in proper exercise form.

“Until now, telehealth visits were not covered by insurance companies and Medicare,” said Cole. “Whether they are in quarantine or out of town, can continue to progress in their injury rehabilitation and not regress.”

Recently, Cole helped a patient recover from a rotator cuff injury via Telehealth. “I was the only person who saw her after surgery for six months, and she did very well,” he said. “Hopefully, this service will evolve past the pandemic, since people travel, and things happen in life that don’t allow them to come in for in-office visits.”

Whether on-screen or in-person, Achieve Physical Therapy & Performance will take care of you, guide you along your healing journey, and make you laugh at the same time. With compassionate, high-quality care like this, you can’t go wrong.
