nurse practitioner, Catherine Kwarteng Nyarko. She performs psychiatric evaluations,
consultations, and medication management for adolescents and adults. Her
specialties include depression, anxiety, substance abuse, schizophrenia,
bipolar disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

Certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Catherine Kwarteng
Nyarko

Ms. Kwarteng Nyarko is on a personal mission
to de-stigmatize mental health care and to “open the minds of people to
understand that mental health issues aren’t a label, but a disease like
diabetes or hypertension are bodily diseases.”

Growing up in Ghana, Africa, she always knew
she wanted to help others. Her mother, a nurse, was her role model. Innately
motivated to help people achieve better mental health and function, she
worked in healthcare in Ghana before moving to the United States 22 years
ago. She further pursued her passion, earning a Bachelor of Science in
nursing at Herbert Lehman College (CUNY) in New York City and a Master of
Science in nursing at Walden University in Minneapolis.

“It makes my day and uplifts my spirits when
a patient who has come to me feeling down and not knowing what to do, tells
me their mood has stabilized with treatment, and they can once again do what
they want to do. It’s gratifying to know I’ve helped make a difference in
their lives,” Ms. Kwarteng Nyarko says.
