Dina Itum Madni, MD
Dr. Dina Itum Madni is board certified by the American Board of Surgery. She earned her undergraduate degree from Tufts University in Boston and her Doctor of Medicine degree from Emory University in Atlanta. She then came to Dallas and completed a residency in general surgery at UT Southwestern.
Dr. Madni enjoys the breadth of general surgery, treating a variety of afflictions, such as heartburn/reflux, thyroid and parathyroid disease, hernias (inguinal, ventral, and hiatal) as well as benign and malignant breast and colon disease.
In surgery, Dr. Madni frequently uses the robotic-assisted laparoscopic da Vinci Surgical System. This platform permits a surgeon to operate by making a few small incisions, minimizing recovery discomfort and narcotic use. With its magnified, 3D high-resolution vision system and tiny, wristed instruments that rotate far greater than the human hand, the da Vinci System enables surgeons to operate with enhanced vision, precision, and control.
Dr. Madni is a true believer in precise and honest communication as well as patient education. She spends a significant portion of time interacting with each patient, explaining the nature of their disease, the surgical and nonsurgical management options, and the details regarding a patient’s planned surgery and expected recovery process.
One of the things Dr. Madni finds most rewarding about her surgical practice is the ongoing relationship she has with her patients and their families. Even after surgery, Dr. Madni takes pride in being accessible to her patients for any questions or concerns they may have during their recovery process.
In her practice, Dr. Madni focuses on timely and thorough patient evaluation and surgical scheduling. She knows how incapacitating the wait can be between the time a patient receives a diagnosis and the time they are evaluated by a specialist. To ease a patient’s emotional and physical burden, Dr. Madni accepts same week consultations and is able to schedule patients for surgery within one to two weeks of their clinic appointment.
In addition to surgery, Dr. Madni specializes in the use of Botox and dermal fillers. These aesthetic injectable procedures are performed in the office setting and leave patients looking and feeling more youthful.
Beyond her surgical practice, Dr. Madni has authored a number of publications and book chapters pertaining to robotic surgery, vascular surgery, endocrine surgery, and medical school practices.
In her free time, Dr. Madni enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter, and friends. For hobbies she likes cooking and OrangeTheory Fitness, a form of high intensity interval training designed to boost your metabolism and build endurance.
