Sterling Physical Therapy and Wellness

Dr. Sterling Carter

Are you experiencing pain? Do you struggle with mobility? Founder of Sterling Physical Therapy & Wellness Dr. Sterling Carter wanted to redefine the patient experience and began an outpatient clinic unlike any other. The trained physical therapists there specialize in treating patients with increased pain, decreased mobility, and declining function. They offer neck and back pain management, post-operative rehabilitation, chronic pain management, and management of work-, auto-, and sports-related injuries.

Sterling Physical Therapy & Wellness is the highest rated clinic in the area according to Google. In addition, Focus On Therapeutic Outcomes Inc.—an organization that evaluates 4,776 clinics according to the patient outcomes—ranked Sterling in the top 15% of outpatient physical therapy clinics in the country. What is the secret to their success?

Unlike many other clinics, Sterling’s therapists are trained in and use manual therapy, in which they use their hands to facilitate healing in their patients. “Every person receives manual therapy during each visit,” says Dr. Carter. However, they also utilize advanced technology to accurately diagnose their patients’ conditions. Musculoskeletal ultrasound allows therapists to see magnitude of the injury and to plan treatment accordingly. “Because of this technology, we are able to treat them more effectively and have better outcomes. We have advanced tools to better treat our patients,” Dr. Carter adds.

During his 25 years of military service in the army reserves, Dr. Carter was called up for duty for war three times and held many key positions, including combat medic, physical therapist, military officer, and commander. He learned priceless skills in leadership, discipline, and work ethic that he has infused into how he runs Sterling Physical Therapy & Wellness.

Dr. Carter earned advanced degrees in physical therapy including his doctorate from Simmons University in 2013. He has been a practicing physical therapist for over 20 years and opened Sterling Physical Therapy & Wellness in Sugar Land in 2008. Expanding to the second office in Southwest Houston in 2016 and a third office in Katy in 2018, Dr. Carter has found a winning recipe for successful outcomes for his patients.

At the heart of all they do, bringing “unparalleled value” to each patient’s clinical experience is what motivates everyone at Sterling. Because it is a locally owned and operated clinic, patients can feel like they are part of a family. Dr. Carter says, “I enjoy seeing how our patients walk in the door with pain or some type of debilitating injury and with our help we see them progress to the point where they walk out the door without pain. I love seeing their significant increase in mobility and function over time.” In the future, Sterling Physical Therapy & Wellness plans to open a fourth clinic potentially in Cypress in spring of 2020 to serve even more patients in the Houston area. Regardless of the reason for your pain, the therapists at Sterling Physical Therapy & Wellness can help you start over and regain your mobility, function, and health.
