Charlotte Hodges, MD
If you’re tired of missing out on life because of your weight, you are not alone. Every day at the New You Bariatric Center, Dr. Charlotte Hodges and her staff meet patients struggling with low energy, aches and pains, limited mobility, and other serious health issues related to their weight.
The effects of being overweight often go far beyond physical pain. The emotional cost can be equally great, and many overweight individuals report feelings of anxiety, depression, and an overall poor quality of life. Finally, there are the other issues often related to being overweight such as diabetes and high blood pressure.
If you’re one of those experiencing either the physical pain or emotional anguish from being overweight, bariatric surgery may be for you. New You Bariatric Center offers a comprehensive approach to weight loss and solutions tailored to meet your particular needs.
Dr. Hodges received her medical degree from Texas A&M University Health Science Center and completed her general surgery residency at Baylor University Medical Center. She is a member of the Texas Medical Association, the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery and is board certified by the American Board of Surgery.
When asked why she chose to specialize in weight loss surgery, she replies that it’s largely because of the joy that comes from transforming her patients’ lives. In addition, she often treats her patients and their family members for years after their surgery and finds great satisfaction in seeing the improvements over time in their lives.
Dr. Hodges has practiced in the DFW area since 2011, performing over 3,000 general and bariatric procedures. While she does a variety of weight loss surgeries, she finds gastric bypass and duodenal switch are often the ones that bring the greatest changes in patients’ lives. Besides weight loss, diabetes is abated, blood pressure goes down, and bypass surgery often helps overweight women wanting to start a family become pregnant.
New You Bariatric Center also offers a nonsurgical weight loss program. Dr. Hodges’ husband, Dr. Collins Hodges, a licensed clinical psychologist, plays an integral role in both the Surgical and the Medical and Behavioral Dietary programs. Having undergone bypass surgery himself, Dr. Hodges provides pre and postsurgical counseling to New You Bariatric Center patients, while overseeing the nonsurgical program.
The nonsurgical, Medical and Behavioral Program includes weight loss medications, along with metabolic testing and assessment, vitamin and protein supplementation, nutritional assessment and support group assistance, which meets the first Monday of each month at the Irving office.
Beyond her clinical practice, Dr. Hodges offers additional weight loss information and guidance on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, and her YouTube channel. She is currently preparing a series of programs on healthy meals and desserts to be posted on her social media sites.
Whatever approach you choose, either surgical or nonsurgical, Dr. Hodges wants to support and guide you every step of the way in your weight loss journey. As she likes to say, “At New You Bariatric Center, a new you is waiting.”
