Arlington Orthopedic Associates, P.A. and The Joint Preservation Center

BermanDr. Joseph Berman is a world- renowned orthopedic surgeon specializing in advanced knee and shoulder treatment techniques. In practice in the Arlington area for more than 30 years, Dr. Berman is a leader in his field, offering innovative treatment options to restore joint function and maintain patient activity.

His knee expertise has led him to operating rooms in six different countries with some of the most influential surgeons in the world. Back home, Dr. Berman is the founder and medical director of the Joint Preservation Center, one of only a handful of designated cartilage restoration centers in the United States. He instructs surgeons in the multiple techniques of knee joint restoration. His treatment options for young athletes and patients who have a new injury or, in some cases, chronic painful knee joints include many operative procedures which can restore the joint surface. One procedure, Autologous Chondrocyte Implantation, a cutting-edge treatment that actually uses the patient’s
own cartilage has a 20 year history of success returning patients to high level of function. He conducts regular “round tables” for physicians in the immediate area where, in an informal setting, surgeons bring their questions and problem cases to be discussed. He also hosts seminars in the DFW area for surgeons who come from around the country.

Beyond his knee experience, Dr. Berman instructs and has lectured internationally
on shoulder arthroscopic surgery. His ability to repair a torn rotator cuff as well as other complicated techniques without incisions is now being taught to surgeons from around the world at the Orthopedic International Learning Center in Chicago, where Dr. Berman participates as an Associate Master Instructor.

Relaxing time finds Dr. Berman spending time with his wife, a professional artist. Their two children are pursuing careers in New York and Los Angeles. The entire family enjoys the arts as well as those now more rare occasions when all are together for a wonderful meal. Dr. Berman and family are also committed to helping preserve the memory of the Holocaust by promoting the Dallas Holocaust Museum.
